If you're planning on building your own home, then there are some questions you should ask and answer before starting any construction whatsoever. Before you dive into any major project like home construction, landscaping, or anything similar, then make sure you know exactly what you're getting into. While the two biggest questions that Christchurch builders usually get is "How much is this going to cost me?", or "Can you guys put in a swimming pool?", questions can get much more specific - and they should. The more you know about the home-building process, the more you can tailor your expectations for the finished product. How much can I customize things? Home customization involves a number of facets, but the biggest ones are going to be worker expertise and the budget of the future homeowner. Knowing what your home-builders are capable of constructing/installing/etc. is imperative to knowing exactly what customization you can have done. What's included in the base home construction price? No one wants to pay to have their home built only to move in and discover there's no plumbing whatsoever. Before building anything, make sure you get a clear picture of what exactly will be coming with the home. Electricity, plumbing, phone lines, internet cabling, gas lines - whatever amenities you want in your home, you need to discuss with your home builders. Do I find the land myself? Yes, you supply the land that you'll be building your home on, and you should know a few things about that land. For instance: is there a homeowner's association that could limit the types of installations available to you? Are there natural obstacles present on the land, such as boulders or tough soil? Obviously, these are just a few examples of questions that you should know the answers to before building your own home - consult with home-builders to learn more about what you need to know before owning your own house.
